A journey of discovery with yoga

Simple, supportive, and headstand-free

WHAT

The practice of Yoga has been around for thousands of years as a way to unite the body, mind, and spirit. The ancient teachings can be a way to live your life and relate to others. It can help us to learn about ourselves, both the parts others see and the parts they don’t. It can be one physical pose, or a combined sequence, working with the breath, or in meditation. It can be lying with your feet up the wall or flat on your back focusing on your breathing. Yoga is about you, the complex wonderful individual you are. Yoga helps us to realize that.

WHY

The physical poses of Yoga, known as asana, can be a way to move the body, encourage flexibility, train balance, support healing (physical and emotional), and can help relieve and calm an anxious mind. Pranayama, or working with the breath, another part of Yoga, can directly impact the nervous system. By changing the pace, depth, or type of breath, the stress response can lessen, and can help to refocus the mind. Yoga can be a way to prepare the body for the day or a way to relax prior to sleep.

HOW

Yoga asana doesn’t have to be complicated to be beneficial. Remember it isn’t about the pose but rather how the pose feels in your body. Click the link below for a short introductory sequence that you can print or save for later.
